Anlage Mitte at Night
The "Central Area" command post (Anlage Mitte) looks very pretty in winter. Buried in snow, the bunker is almost invisible. In summer it's much the same. Hidden in the middle of the forest, it was the perfect shelter for an entire train. And at night? At night, without strong torches, it's practically hard to find.
As always, I start the trip from the Sulejów Reservoir. The night-time August sky is strewn with stars. This is also the period when you can observe the Perseids in the sky. From there we set off towards the village of Jeleń to drive right up to the railway shelter. In the middle of the forest it's really dark.
The railway shelter
The shelter is 354.90 metres long. Built with reinforced-concrete walls 2.5 metres thick, it has a pointed-arch cross-section whose base measures 15 metres. The height of the bunker is 9 metres, which made it possible to hide an entire train inside it.
At night it's really dark in there, and bats fly very low over your head. The bunker is large enough that there's no problem driving a car inside, turning around at the very end and safely driving back out.
Inside it's quiet. All you can hear is the rush of air made by the flying bats.

The Old Market Square in Łódź
As tends to happen at the end of the year, a little grumbling is in order. That Łódź is a different city from all the rest, I probably no longer need to prove to anyone. Sitting in front of my computer, I realised yet another fact that sets this place apart. We have no Old Market Square!
Foggy Wanderings Around Łódź
Some time ago I went on night-time wanderings around Łódź. The city seemed to me empty, sad and gloomy then. On a certain foggy evening I wanted to set out again and capture the beauty that Łódź hides somewhere within itself.
