Posted at high sea, or how to send a letter from a yacht

You've probably heard that you can send a postcard from a ship without a postage stamp, or with a stamp of your own country. If not, then learn the correct methods of sending High Sea Mail.

To miała być jedna noc na Łomnickim Szczycie

It Was Supposed to Be One Night on Lomnický Peak

When I was in the mountains in winter for the first time, I immediately fell in love with the views there. This year I decided to visit Slovakia and spend one night on Lomnický Peak. The ride up to 2,634 m above sea level seemed very simple and pleasant. In the morning we were to leave the mountain hut.

The Last Cruise in Croatia This Year

This is probably the last cruise this year. Time to start getting ready for the cold December Baltic. The beginning of September started with a great storm. Standing in port and watching the lightning out at sea is a truly amazing experience. Mooring in port in a very strong wind, and another storm to round off the season. That's how you can describe the September cruise on the Adriatic.

STS Kapitan Borchardt

A Cruise to Hanse Sail Rostock

After the successful Tall Ships Races 2017 regatta, the sailing ship STS Kapitan Borchardt set sail towards Rostock for another sailing festival — Rostock Hanse Sail. Almost 50 hours of sailing on the Baltic Sea is the perfect rest after warm Croatia.

Szlakiem Orlich Gniazd

Along the Trail of the Eagles Nests

A weekend trip around castles is a good way to walk and sightsee. The Eagles' Nests are a system of medieval castles and strongholds that guarded the border of the Kingdom of Poland. They were built on hard-to-reach limestone rocks reaching up to 30 metres.

Żeglowanie i pożary w Chorwacji

Sailing and Wildfires in Croatia

Flying firefighting planes, a huge cloud of smoke over the sea and ash on deck. That's how you can sum up the first days of sailing in July on the Adriatic Sea. It was worst around Split. A huge fire threatened the city, and from Trogir, where we were moored, you could see an enormous cloud of smoke. By morning the yacht was covered in ash.

Osadnik Gajówka, czyli Lazurowe Jezioro

Gajówka Settling Pond – the Azure Lake

One of the nicer bodies of water with wonderful water colours is Zakrzówek. Another such colourful body of water that I know is the Gajówka Settling Pond in the Przykona commune. Called by

Croatia 2016

After my first solo cruise in Croatia, the time came for another. This time my crew was more focused on touring the cities, old towns and architecture of Croatia than on sailing. Our home and transport was the yacht Bavaria 44 BT '02 - Cougar.

Campo de' Fiori

Campo de Fiori

The market square called the field of flowers is one of Rome's attractions. Campo de' Fiori lies on the border of Rome's Parione and Regola districts and is located near the Piazza Navona. Even Czesław Miłosz wrote about that very square.

Morze Balearskie

A Cruise on the Balearic Sea

A small part of the Mediterranean is the Balearic Sea, where you'll find islands such as Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera and Cabrera, which make up the archipelago. Lying in the Mediterranean climate zone, the Balearics draw a great many tourists and sailors. Time for another cruise!

Baleary 2015

The Balearics 2015

Quite quickly — just over a dozen days after Croatia — I set off on a cruise on the Balearic Sea. A holiday in Ibiza? Why not! Who wouldn't want that. After all, it's one of the more entertaining places on Earth.

Chorwacja 2015

Croatia 2015

A year ago I sailed as a crew member in Croatia. This time I was already leading my own first cruise. An amazing feeling, to be able to skipper a yacht, plan a route, or lie at anchor for the first time. Poring over charts, the weather forecast and planning the route is a demanding task that gives a lot of satisfaction.

Park Narodowy Jezior Plitwickich

Plitvice Lakes National Park

Coming back from the Adriatic cruise, our crew went to Plitvice Lakes National Park. Last year I visited Krka National Park, which is similar to Plitvice Lakes. The biggest attraction is the 16 karst lakes connected to one another by numerous waterfalls. The trails in the park are very well marked and connected.
