Set in the Dzierżoniów Valley, on the river Piława, lies the town of Dzierżoniów, and right next to it Bielawa. Two very charming little towns, lying at the foot of the Owl Mountains. I began my tour of Dzierżoniów at night, in the rain. And the goal of the whole trip was to find an inscription on the viewing tower in Bielawa.

On Sunday I set off with a friend to the area around Łęczyca. The weather was just perfect for cycling. After our last trip around the Zelów area, this time we planned the route a little better. A little, because the destination was Piątek, and along the way the plans changed.
Somewhere in the 13th century, the first mentions appeared of the village of Szelyów, later renamed Zeliów. I actually found out about Zelów fairly recently, but the area around this little town immediately became rather interesting and important to me. Today I managed to head out to the area around Zelów.

This year's trip to the Baltic Sea took place quite early, at the end of February, for the Linux Winter Camp 2014 conference. But since man does not live by conferences alone, my friends and I set off to explore the coast.
For a bit of laziness and rest, I went to Polanica-Zdrój. A small town set in the valley of the Bystrzyca Dusznicka at the foot of the Piekielna Góra massif. It is famous mainly for its mineral water springs and its Spa Park. It's an ideal place for a lazy rest.
Most spontaneous trips ended in success. The starting point was Spała, and the destination was the railway bunker in Konewka. Together with the bunker in Jeleń, they form the "Anlage Mitte" command posts. Unfortunately, during this period the complex is closed, so we chose a different direction. Any direction…
The Anlage Mitte bunker complex (the "Central Area" command post) is probably one of the more interesting day-trip spots outside Łódź. The abandoned railway bunker, over 350 metres long, tempts many people to explore its interior. Lately it's become so popular that inside I came across 4 cars.
Winter has arrived. Although it's not yet visible in the city, in the mountains it has settled in for good. The remnants of unused holiday leave practically smile out from the calendar and beg to be used. If you don't like crowded trails and value quiet and peace, you should head to the mountains in winter. And ideally to the Polish Tatras.
In 1955, construction began on the EC-2 combined heat and power plant at 26 Wróblewskiego Street. For many years it provided heating and hot water for the residents of Karolew and Retkinia. In just two years' time, in 2015, it will be shut down. All the boilers will be switched off and hot water will flow to the residents from other plants.
Everyone who wants to feel the highlander culture, the regional cuisine, the hospitable and warm atmosphere, and above all to see the mountains, comes to Zakopane. The town has its own unique character, which we associate with Krupówki Street. For me, though, it's associated with the view of the mountains, of Giewont.
There are quite a few recipes for lemon liqueur, and I've tried them more than once — both drinking and making it myself. One of the best I've ever tasted I present below. In my opinion, this is the best recipe for lemon liqueur. And it's not all that complicated.
On my way back from Lake Štrbské pleso, I came across the Belianska Cave, which was discovered in 1881. The cave itself is very large. Its passages extend for 3,641 m horizontally and 160 m vertically. Inside it's cold, and sometimes ice appears. Shall we go in?
