Sailing and Wildfires in Croatia

Flying firefighting planes, a huge cloud of smoke over the sea and ash on deck. That's how you can sum up the first days of sailing in July on the Adriatic Sea. It was worst around Split. A huge fire threatened the city, and from Trogir, where we were moored, you could see an enormous cloud of smoke. By morning the yacht was covered in ash.

The rest of the sailing went without major problems. We managed to visit the ports of Sukošan, Trogir, lying at anchor in a lagoon near Hvar, Komiža and Rogoznica (Frapa Marina).

When planning a cruise in July, you have to remember the higher prices for ports. It's also decidedly more crowded in the ports themselves, and even at the anchorages.
