The Bergen Aquarium
When I used to go to Łódź Zoo, I always liked to step into the building with the aquariums. Visiting the zoological garden in Wrocław, I also spent a lot of time by the fish. In Bergen too I visited the aquarium. As far as I'm concerned, it's one of the most beautiful I've ever seen!
It is located fairly close to the centre and the fish market. In summer a ferry runs between the fish market and the museum. In over 60 large and small tanks you'll find an enormous number of animals.
Above all, you can see seals and penguins there. The latter made the biggest impression on me. You can watch them on the surface as they sit on their eggs, or toddle comically over the rocks, or through the glass as they swim.
Several times a day there is a feeding of the seals and penguins. During feeding the seals put on an acrobatic show. They play with various toys, leap out from under the water and wave goodbye to the audience.
Besides seals and penguins, you can come across tropical fish, snakes and crocodiles. Quite a few sections relate to Norway's underwater and surface life. You'll see what the fjords look like underwater and which animals inhabit them.
The animals are of all kinds. Colourful and plain. The exhibition shows the diversity of the flora and fauna of Norwegian waters. There is also a tropical section, where there are various species of crocodile. They are big and small and, as far as I'm concerned, differ from one another only in size.
One of the more interesting attractions is the chance to pet small fish, starfish, crabs, sea anemones and other little creatures. The water basins are besieged by small children, who stroke the fish and the sponges. The animal keepers hand everyone a sponge or another creature to hold in their hands.
The biggest impression on me is made by the large tank with a shoal of herring. The number of fish swimming in the shoal is staggering. It looks magical and blue. The Bergen Aquarium is one of those places worth visiting.

The Old Market Square in Łódź
As tends to happen at the end of the year, a little grumbling is in order. That Łódź is a different city from all the rest, I probably no longer need to prove to anyone. Sitting in front of my computer, I realised yet another fact that sets this place apart. We have no Old Market Square!
Foggy Wanderings Around Łódź
Some time ago I went on night-time wanderings around Łódź. The city seemed to me empty, sad and gloomy then. On a certain foggy evening I wanted to set out again and capture the beauty that Łódź hides somewhere within itself.
