Bunkers in Sieradz
In Sieradz, near the river Warta, you'll find 5 shelters created as part of the operations of the Łódź Army, formed in 1939. Its purpose was to defend the strategically important areas of Łódź and Piotrków, and to protect Warsaw from the enemy's main strike from the direction of Wrocław and Opole.
To reach the bunkers we have to head to the river Warta. Walking along the embankment, we'll come across shelters built into the flood levee. They're already visible from the bridge over the Warta when driving from Sieradz towards Łódź.

Heading north, after walking about a kilometre, we'll come across another shelter. It too is built into the levee. Unfortunately, the entrance to it is buried.
A short distance from the levee you can see a railway track. Right by the railway line, where it crosses a dirt road, there are another two shelters.

The Old Market Square in Łódź

Some time ago I went on night-time wanderings around Łódź. The city seemed to me empty, sad and gloomy then. On a certain foggy evening I wanted to set out again and capture the beauty that Łódź hides somewhere within itself.
