Mint Liqueur
Minttu peppermint liqueur tastes best with ice cubes, tonic, snow or chocolate. Unfortunately, it's produced in Finland. For my own needs I had to make a mint liqueur of a fabulous green colour.
The recipe for mint liqueur is fairly simple. For one litre of pure spirit we'll need 4 bunches of mint, which you can buy at the supermarket. After washing the mint, we pick off its leaves and toss them into a jar. We pour the alcohol over the whole thing.

The spirit takes on a green colour after just a few moments. We set the jar aside in a dark and cool place for a week. Every now and then we stir and shake the contents of the jar. Over time, the colour of the liqueur turns very dark.

After a week we strain off the spirit extract and filter it through gauze. The liqueur stains the vessels we filter it in very strongly. In a small pot we heat sugar (about 400 g) with water (0.5 l) until it all dissolves. After cooling, we pour it into the spirit extract. After about 2 months the liqueur matures and clarifies beautifully.
