Setting Sail from Athens onto the Aegean Sea

After two cruises — one on the Baltic Sea and one on the Adriatic — I set off to sail the Aegean Sea. Greece tempted us with a warm, azure sea and winds that were meant to give the sailors a thrill and the novices seasickness. This time the yacht "Alter Ego" (Gibsea 442) awaited us in Athens.

The journey to Greece was rather long and led us through countries such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia and Macedonia. I really liked that last country, especially thanks to the locals, who sold their own homemade moonshine somewhere by the roadside.

The yacht "Alter Ego" was the largest I'd sailed on so far. It had 4 double cabins, two toilets, a bimini and a sprayhood. The engine had undergone a thorough overhaul and was supposedly not going to cause any problems. Supposedly…

The vessel was equipped with an autopilot, a GPS, a dinghy, a furling jib and mainsail (which worked terribly), and such gadgets as a TV with DVB-T and fairy lights in the saloon.

We set sail from Athens early in the morning and headed towards the Cyclades.

The Old Market Square in Łódź

Foggy Wanderings Around Łódź

Some time ago I went on night-time wanderings around Łódź. The city seemed to me empty, sad and gloomy then. On a certain foggy evening I wanted to set out again and capture the beauty that Łódź hides somewhere within itself.
