Toruń – the Eighth Wonder of the World

I first came to Toruń on my way back from Bergen. A friend from the plane showed me the view of the old town as we drove by car. From a distance the place looked gorgeous. Later I visited Toruń to photograph the illuminated city.

The Józef Piłsudski road bridge rises proudly over the river. When the sun hides behind the horizon, it lights up blue, giving an interesting contrast to the orange buildings of the old town.

On the other side of the bridge, on a Vistula island called Kępa Bazarowa, there is a viewing platform from which a wonderful view of Toruń's old town opens up. It's one of the most beautiful city panoramas in Poland. Above the city walls tower the roofs and church spires, whose nighttime illumination gives a wonderful view.

Kępa Bazarowa, sometimes called the "Monkey Grove", is also a nature reserve, where a riparian forest grows, covered with monumental specimens of poplars and willows.

Foggy Wanderings Around Łódź

Some time ago I went on night-time wanderings around Łódź. The city seemed to me empty, sad and gloomy then. On a certain foggy evening I wanted to set out again and capture the beauty that Łódź hides somewhere within itself.
