Ulriken
Ulriken (in Norwegian one of the syv fjell — the seven mountains) is one of the seven highest mountains in the area of Bergen. Its summit sits at an altitude of 643 metres above sea level. At the top you'll find a television tower, a restaurant and a telescope.
There is a route for amateurs, which is a little longer than the one for climbing enthusiasts. If, on the other hand, you have money to spare, you can take the cable car up to the summit. It sways nicely! The trails themselves can be very hard to manage, especially if the weather doesn't cooperate. And in Bergen it likes to rain!
From the very summit you can see the whole city and part of the fjord. There's plenty to look at, especially in the evening when the entire city is lit up. The tower itself is also nicely illuminated.
On the other side of the mountain you can admire the rest of the peaks and the small wooden cabins (hytte) dotted somewhere in the distance. Skiers, of course, are not in short supply.
Ulriken is one of those places you absolutely must visit while in Bergen. The mountain reigns over the city and it's hard not to notice it.
